The Wildlife Conservation Society
Activities under USAID LGP are led by Cardno and implemented by a consortium of partners at the national, regional, and local level.
The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), established in the United States in 1895 as the New York Zoological Society, is a private, nonprofit conservation organization that saves wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation action, and education and by inspiring people to value nature. The organization has long-term commitments in dozens of landscapes and seascapes, a presence in nearly 60 countries, and experience helping establish and manage 288 protected areas across the globe. In these environments, WCS works with local communities and partner governments to address threats to species, habitats, and ecosystem services, as well as issues critical to improving the quality of life of local people whose livelihoods often depend on natural resources.
